At the North Carolina State Board of Education meeting on November 3, 2016 four schools that received the Global-Ready School Designation were recognized. The program is the result of recommendations by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to ensure that every student graduating from a public school in the state is “prepared to be a globally engaged and productive citizen.” Requirements include strategies for improving curriculum in addition to professional development plans for educators to be more globally-aware. Go Global NC is a recognized partner in these efforts.
The schools recognized this year:
Model Level: Carolina Forest International Elementary School, Onslow County
Prepared Level:
East Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
Harrisburg Elementary School, Cabarrus County Schools
Harris Road Middle School, Cabarrus County Schools
