The Global Teachers Executive Council kicked off the year by hosting its first event for the Global Teachers Community: a virtual bonfire-style storytelling gathering. Educators from across North Carolina came together to share global stories and reflect on how their international experiences have shaped their teaching and perspectives. The conversation created space for connection, reflection, and shared learning across counties—marking a meaningful start to the year and reinforcing the value of global exchange and educator-led community building.
The Global Teachers Executive Council is a leadership group of 11 global educators who provide strategic direction and guidance for the Global Teachers Community, a professional learning community for K–12 educators across North Carolina interested in integrating global learning into their classrooms. Council members meet virtually throughout the year to shape the community’s annual focus and theme, plan and facilitate events, and support the development of a shared curriculum database. Through their service, members also contribute original content—such as vlogs and curriculum planning resources—support professional development and networking opportunities, and help ensure the community remains a collaborative, educator-driven space for sharing best practices in global education.
