Day Four

Lenovo, a worldwide computer and technology company that began in China, opened its doors to the delegation for a tour and a look at the latest technology that may be appearing in the classroom. The company’s North American headquarters are located in Morrisville, North Carolina and sponsors a mobile device for the Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year. Both the 2017 recipient, Lisa Godwin, and the 2018 recipient of the honor, Freebird McKinney, are traveling with the Global Teachers – China 2018 delegation. McKinney will also be joining the Global Teachers – Mexico 2019 delegation.

The afternoon brought a visit to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Unfortunately, Tiananmen Square was closed due to restoration and rennovation, but there was plenty to see in the Forbidden City. Continued introduction to the historical sites of China continue to help build the delegates’ understanding of the country’s culture and values.
