Global NC is pleased to introduce two Global Teachers alumni who will serve as Teacher Leaders for the Global Teachers – Southern Africa 2026 program.
Grant Hairston, a participant in the Global Teachers – South Korea 2024 program, will serve as Group 1 Teacher Leader. Grant teaches 5th grade math and science at Zeb Vance Elementary School, where he also leads the school Garden Club, serves as a robotics coach, and presents professional development for fellow educators.
Grant applied for the Teacher Leader role to gain deeper, firsthand insight into Southern Africa’s educational systems, cultural traditions, and environmental initiatives. By stepping into new environments and learning from global peers, he hopes to return with new perspectives that strengthen his leadership and enrich the experiences he creates for his students and colleagues.
Jonathan Arp, a participant in the Global Teachers – Chile 2023 program, will serve as Group 2 Teacher Leader. Jonathan is a 6th–8th grade band teacher at Rose Hill-Magnolia Elementary School, where he is also a co-sponsor of the drama club and an assistant baseball coach.
Jonathan is excited to continue his involvement with Global NC in this new leadership role. Since first engaging with the organization, he has been enthusiastic about supporting its mission and expanding opportunities for educators. He looks forward to helping guide this year’s cohort and contributing to a meaningful and impactful global learning experience.
