North Carolina students who study Chinese culture, language, and history will be in a stronger position and able to take advantage of global opportunities within North Carolina, the United States, and the rest of the world.

As globalization plays an increasing role in North Carolina, our students need to have global skills and knowledge in order to work and be successful in a constantly changing global society. As they pursue the State Board of Education’s mission – that every public school student will graduate from high school globally competitive for work and post-secondary education and prepared for life in the 21st century – North Carolina students will require programs that enable them to learn other languages and engage with people from other cultures.
