Did you know that Go Global NC has worked with a celebrity? Grover and his friends from Sesame Street partnered with Go Global NC and other organizations to help improve curriculum about global awareness in North Carolina schools.
From the 25 Years of Center for International Understanding publication:
Grover, that loveable furry blue monster who lives on Sesame Street, has gone global. He travels from country to country to learn about different cultures, other languages and the varying lifestyles of children. Throughout his journeys, Grover gently identifies the similarities that unite us all.
Grover’s travels and lessons are being transformed into a new educational curriculum to debut with North Carolina preschoolers, kindergarteners and first graders in the 2005—2006 school year. Sesame Workshop, in partnership with the Center, the Department of Public Instruction, Smart Start, More-at-Four and UNC-TV, will pilot the curriculum to bring global awareness and appreciation to the classroom. International understanding starts with our youngest citizens.
