38 Campaign: NC’s First Rural Day

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper proclaimed today, May 9, the first official Rural Day. It’s fitting as North Carolina agriculture provides 633,000 jobs-that’s 17% of all jobs in the state. Income generated by N.C. agriculture exceeds $10 billion annually.

Go Global NC was proud to partner with a few members of the rural community in 2016 when we took the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Farm Bureau to Mexico as part of our Latino Initiative.

The 36-member delegation’s week-long experience provided them the opportunity to gain a better understanding of Mexican history and culture and its influence on the Mexican farmworkers who come to North Carolina each year. Some of the delegation even met the families of a few of their long-time workers.

A few months later, the Farm Bureau offered Go Global NC the chance to tour farms run by Latino Initiative participants and to educate us more about agriculture in North Carolina.

Your donation of $38, $380, or $3,800 will help connect North Carolinians like the Farm Bureau with international resources and with their communities.
